Joe Cobb

Reverend Joe Cobb is Pastor of Metropolitan Community Church of the Blue Ridge.

Joe lives in Roanoke with his partner, James, and their two children, Ginny and JJ. Their family also includes a daughter, Emma and a son, Taylor. Joe is a native of Kansas and has his own pair of ruby red slippers.

Joe was ordained as an MCC clergy in 2006 and served as Pastor of the MCC of Winston-Salem from 2007-2008. Prior to this, Joe served as a United Methodist Clergy in Texas, England and Kansas, from 1985-2001. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas and a Bachelor of Philosophy degree from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.

Joe is co-author of Our Family Outing: A Memoir of Coming Out and Coming Through, written with his former spouse, Rev. Leigh Anne Taylor. The book is a unique, two voice narrative of a gay man and straight woman and their journey through marriage, children, coming out, divorce, healing, reconciliation and creating a new way of being family.

Seth Davis

Minister of Music
Seth Davis is our Minister of Music!  Seth works with Rev. Joe to plan our weekly worship celebrations, direct the MCCBR Choir and Skittles Band, play keyboard, and develop our overall music ministry in the life of the church.  He will be working ten hours per week including worship and rehearsals.  If you are interested in participating in the choir, band or offering special music, please contact Seth on Sundays or via email at:
Seth is a Georgia native who received his Bachelor of Music degree from Clayton State University in 2007. While in Atlanta, Seth served as founding and principal accompanist for Griffin Choral Arts, pianist and Wesley Choir co-director at Griffin First United Methodist Church, and cantor, pianist, and Angel Choir director at The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel. He also taught, judged, and accompanied many choral, music, and theater festivals, competitions, and workshops. He also taught musical theatre, voice, and piano for several private schools in the Atlanta area. In addition, Seth has served as music director for many fine regional theatres as well as the theatre departments of Georgia Tech and Oglethorpe University. He now lives in downtown Roanoke with his fiance’, Travis, and their crazy dog, Mina, and he is the Resident Music Director at Mill Mountain Theatre and the Ballroom Manager for The Patrick Henry Ballroom.

Laura brings years of administrative experience to the position, and works in the mornings at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Roanoke.  Prior to her work there, she worked for United Methodist Communications in Nashville, TN.  Laura is married to Wade and they have a son, Thomas.  She is an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Roanoke.
